Help with login problems

There are several types of login problems you may experience. Please read the whole page before attempting any of the suggestions.

1. Login attempt rejected with standard error message
You may have tried to login and read the following message:

You have entered an invalid username or password. Please press the back button, enter the correct details and try again. Don't forget that the password is case sensitive. Forgotten your password? Click here!

A mistyped username or password simply requires a fresh attempt. If you submitted an invalid email address during registration or when amending your profile, your username will need to be reactivated after you've advised the webmaster your correct email address.

Another possible cause is username activation problems.

2. You have forgotten your password
If you have forgotten your password, go to the Home page and click Login again. When the standard error message displays (see 1. above), click here. You will be taken to a form to enter your username and email address. A new password will be created, and sent in an email to you. When you receive the email, you need to click the new password activation link. The new password activation link exists so that if someone else enters your information into the Forgotten Password form, your current password will remain intact. After you have activated your new password, you may log in with it. You may change your password to whatever you like in your User Control Panel (see link at the top of the Forums Index page).

3. You clicked on the Register or Login link and there's no response
Usually clicking either the Register or Login links should open a new window (a popup) with the relevant content to permit registration or logging in. The opening of the popup can be stopped by one of several things:
  • Your browser has JavaScript disabled. You should have also received a message about not having JavaScript enabled but some browsers may not display it. The popup is launched with JavaScript so check that it is enabled.
  • The page is out of date. Refresh the page.
  • Your browser has become muddle headed. Reboot the machine.
  • Your browser or other software is set to block all popups. Either relax the settings or add our domain (www.TheBabyWearer.com) to a list of exceptions (domains whose popups are tolerated).
  • Your browser or other software (such as Norton AntiVirus) has setup a "firewall" against viruses and is over reacting. Do as for popup blocking above.
4. Your Login seemed to go OK but you still can't access the site
You may have registered and then logged in but found that even after the home page refreshed, it still presented a Login link and you couldn't access most of the site. This is caused by having your browser's cookie settings too strict.

TheBabyWearer.com uses cookies to manage the site Registration/Login process. When you register, your profile details are added to the Forums database and 3 cookies are created on your machine. They only contain login session numbers, time stamps, preferences and your username. The cookies are read or updated or deleted to enable your browser to display the correct login status and control site access. When your browser cookie settings are too strict, this process breaks down: cookies are written but perhaps not read, or are completely disabled. To make your return visits to TheBabyWearer.com trouble free, you will need to ensure that your cookie settings are appropriate.

Click here for more detailed cookie instructions.

5. Delete your cookies
If you still get odd things going on, logout & delete your TBW cookies and then login again (on the Home page).

6. Bother! Nothing works!
If all the preceding information here doesn't solve your problems, please email the Webmaster with the following information:
a. your browser name and version number (click Help and/or About on the menubar),
b. describe what you did and what messages (if any) appeared on the screen,
c. your username.

We will do our best to get you in!
